RightNow purchased by Oracle for $1.5 billion

Posted 28-10-2011 in Latest industry news

Montana-based RightNow delivers software designed to improve the customer experience, integrating interactions and offering myriad support options across the contact centre, website and social media.

The deal is the first major move solidifying Oracle’s plan to create a Public Cloud for delivering IT systems and services to businesses without the hassle or cost of building and maintaining them in-house.

"Oracle is moving aggressively to offer customers a full range of cloud solutions including sales force automation, human resources, talent management, social networking, databases and Java as part of the Oracle Public Cloud.  RightNow's leading customer service cloud is a very important addition to Oracle's Public Cloud," says Thomas Kurian, executive vice president, Oracle development.

RightNow’s board has unanimously voted in favour of the deal and, subject to share holder and legal approval, the buyout should complete by early 2012.
