Customer service under scrutiny thanks to free wifi

Posted 15-02-2012 in Blog

The quality of customer service provided by UK businesses will be under intense scrutiny this summer due to the London Olympics, with consumers able to instantly give feedback via mobile devices thanks to the largest free wifi zone in Europe being deployed in the capital.

The zone is being provided by O2 in partnership with Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea councils, and will offer free access to the millions of expected Olympic visitors, who will be able to share their experiences across social media sites without incurring data charges or seeking out the current smaller, individual wifi networks.

“This groundbreaking deal - the first of its kind in the UK - will see us deliver high quality connectivity across London in time for London 2012.  Our longer-term aim is to expand our footprint of O2 Wifi, which is open to everyone, and also intelligently enhance our services at street level, where people need the network the most,” says O2 chief operating officer Derek McManus.
